I had the pleasure of meeting Richie Furay and chatting with him a few years ago at a pastor's conference in Appleton, Wisconsin. He was there to lead worship for the conference, and it was great fellowshiping with him as a brother in Christ and talking with him about his friendships with people like Stephen Stills and Neil Young. When I discovered his autobiography on the sale rack at a bookstore, I had to have it. I was not disappointed.I could not put this book down. There are so many referen [...]

Worth a read if you can get past the religious proselytizing scattered throughout the book- written by a country rock musician turned pastor. I have been a fan of Richie Furay since the release of 'For What It's Worth' by Buffalo Springfield in the late '60s. There's lots of musical history in here. I was fascinated and often surprised by who knew who and the possible bands that didn't quite gel- at one point Gregg Allman was considered for a Furay project. I attended Furay's church in Boulder, [...]

After starting this book, I put on my Buffalo Springfield Retrospective CD, now I can't get the song Kind Woman out of my head. At least it's a good song. Enjoyed reading about his musical journey. I don't know how he got past his wife telling him that she didn't love him, never loved him, and would never love him again. Just brutal. Forgive I'm sure, but hard to forget. Glad things worked out for him though. Not sure about the everythings happening according to God's plan way of thinking. Might [...]

Richie has long been one of my favorite artists, the rock n roll tenor of his kills me every time. Unlike some of my other favorites, who died young from drug abuse, Richie is also a minister, as well as a member of the RnR Hall of Fame.It makes an interesting read. I enjoyed hearing about why Buffalo Springfield could stay together. Why he built Poco the way he did. With the Souther, Furay and Hillman Band didnt become the Super Group David Geffen was sure it would. Its a good story but a man wh [...]

I have met and talked with this man, author Richie Furay. I understood him better as a musician; I understand him best as a person of faith, whose family is of paramount importance to him. His writing taught me to be true to my convictions and principles, and that there is wisdom in the bible for all of us.

A pretty good memoir. Interesting to learn about the history of Buffalo Springfield, Poco, and, Richie's interaction with many well-known people in the rock-and-roll world. Enjoyed the story of his life, and his unabashed affirmation of his faith in Christ.

The best parts are Furay's descriptions of the creative process. He writes longingly of many attempts to found a band that is a family, but doesn't seem to realize that's exactly what he did-families are not always idyllic.

Learned some very interesting things about Buffalo Springfield, Poco and Richie himself. Good, quick read.

I enjoyed all the inside stuff about Buffalo Springfield, Poco, and the Souther, Hillman, Furay Band. I didn't mind some of the Christian stuff -- as it is a great part of who Richie is. I do find the evangelical push a little spooky, but understand for this type of Christian the spreading of the word and trying to covert is their mission. I do like the way he tied up the title with the sale pitch / prayer at the end. Have to admire that.
